Traveling on The Orient Express

What’s the best train to take to Sapa?

Traveling on The Orient Express

If you’re headed to Sapa in Vietnam you’re going to want to take an overnight train.

Depending on the train you take, this can be a very pleasant or unpleasant nights journey. Trains vary in comfort, cleanliness and accommodations. I’ve had an opportunity to research and try a few and I highly suggest the Orient Express!

All normal overnight trains in Vietnam are very affordable, but they also sleep 4 people. This means, if there are two of you traveling together you’ll be put into a berth with two other strangers. If you’re anything like me, I like to meet strangers, but I don’t necessarily like to sleep next to them in the dark, in a foreign country, on The Orient Express.

So if you’re traveling in a pair (or with four of you) and you want to travel in style and I comfort, I suggest buying 2 VIP Orient Express tickets (or 4 Deluxe berth tickets), to rent out a whole berth for yourselves and have the best overnight train experience to Sapa possible! They will even give you some drinks and snacks for your journey 😉
