Tonle Sap

Tonle Sap is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and largest feature of the map of Cambodia. It is an important natural resource in terms of fishing and wetlands. There are many floating villages located on, and around the Tonle Sap Lake (Boeung Tonle Sap) and they are all somewhat different.

We visited Chong Khneas. Chong Khneas is the floating village nearest to Siem Reap. In the wet season, it really is a floating village, with houses, shops, schools, etc. all bobbing on the water and a truly a voyeristic affair as you look into the homes and daily lives of residents while you boat through the village.
